President Obama today announced commutations of the sentences of 42 people, incluing Craig L. Watson of Jacksonville.
Watson was convicted in federal court in Arkansas in 2006 of four drug charges, including conspiring to distribute more than 50 grams of crack cocaine. He was sentenced to 276 months, or 23 years, in prison. The sentence was amended in 2011 to 20 years in prison. Obama’s commutation will allow his sentence to end Oct. 1, 2016, or 10 years early.
