A Community Fundraiser for Pulse (the Orlando nightclub where 49 were slain by a gunman then killed by police) has been scheduled Friday night at Club Sway, a gay bar in downtown Little Rock.

Doors open at 8 p.m and City Director Kathy Webb will speak at 9 p.m. 49 rainbow flags will be posted outside the club by Arkansans for Equality.

On hand will be information on voter registration, political organizations and LGBT organizations.

All door proceeds (pay what you can) plus performer tips will given to the GLBT Community Center of Central Florida, which has created an account to financially assist all of the victims and their families.

Food service will be provided by Hot Rod Weiners and performers include singer/songwriter John Willis and Sarah Stricklin, classical pianist Gio Antipolo and Arkansas Symphony Orchestra members Katherine Williamson and Geoff Robson, vocalist AC, as well as Branson-based country artist Donnie Lee Strickland, burlesque artist Darla Beauregard, and local drag artists Symone, Lady Boi, Rhiannon Cortez, REPROBABE, Amelia Cortez-Andrews, Envy Hart, Lisa Frank Cortez, Irma Gerd, Jess Kitten, Kassandra Kardashian, Lola B. Fierce and Gianna Colucci.

Here’s a modest suggestion for  all politicians, but particularly those like Gov. Asa Hutchinson, Arkansas members of Congress and leadership of the legislature. Drop by for a minute and drop a $5 bill (or more) in the donation can to show that — however much you might support legal discrimination against gay people — you are touched by the suffering and have empathy for people disproportionately targeted by hate crimes.
