The state Libertarian Party says it will hold a special nominating convention July 30 to pick a candidate to run in a special election to finish the term of Republican Rep. Kelley Linck, who’s resigned the seat to work in the Hutchinson administration.
The special election will be Nov. 8, the same day as the general election for the next two-year term. Jack Fortner, a Republican, is unopposed in the general election. Should a libertarian candidate win the special election, the victory would entitle the winner to serve less than two months, during a time when the legislature isn’t expected to meet. Go figure.
