Police say a confrontation between a convenience store clerk and a man on the parking lot of the West Little Rock store where he worked turned deadly early this morning, with the clerk later arrested for first degree murder.
An LRPD press release said that officers were called to the EZ Mart located at 11911 Mara Lynn Drive, at the intersection of Mara Lynn and Bowman, around 4 a.m. today in response to a call about a man being shot. When they arrived, police found Jarvis Garner, 20, of Little Rock, on the ground near the gas pumps. He was later transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Police questioned Nicholas Beasley, the clerk who had been working at the gas station. Police say Beasley told them he had gone outside to confront Garner for hanging around the parking lot, and Garner was allegedly shot during that confrontation.
Beasley has been arrested, and is currently being held in the Pulaski County Regional Detention Center. No bond has been set.
