You can find early voting centers at Hendrix College and UCA. Still, Faulkner County sends Sen. Jason Rapert to the Capitol.
So the Republican-controlled Washington County Election Commission should have no fear of emulating the city of colleges to the southeast and voting Friday to open an early voting center at the University of Arkansas to serve the 30,000 or people who pass through the campus every day.
I can think of no better way to counteract the evidence that Republicans favor less, not more, voting — particularly votes cast by minorities, the poor and the young. Another potential point in favor of UA voting for Republican commissioners — the huge number of students from Texas. Though I guess the odds of them giving up the Lone Star franchise are slim.
In all seriousness: a moveon.org petition campaign to encourage a positive Washington Election Commission vote has topped 1,000 names. Add yours.
