The search committee for a successor to the retiring Jim McKenzie as director of Metroplan, the regional planning agency, will have interviews today with the four finalists for the job.
* Andrew Gast-Bray of Mooresville, Ind., a planning consultant.
* Donald Galligan of Marsing, Idaho, a planning consultant.
* Sungman Kim of South Padre Island, Texas, that city’s development services director.
* Conway Mayor Tab Townsell
A fifth candidate from Arizona who’d made the cut dropped out.
Metroplan is advertising a salary range of $90,000 to $165,800. McKenzie’s salary is $152,600. The agency’s wide-ranging planning efforts include a critical role in the current debate over expansion of Interstate 30 through Little Rock and North Little Rock to 10 lanes.
The search committee is expected to winnow the list to two or three for the full Metroplan board’s consideration tomorrow.
UPDATE: Townsell and Gast-Bray are finalists. The voters will be people who’ve served with Townsell on the Metroplan board for years.
