KSPR in Springfield, Mo. has a salty report on an encounter in Newton County Assessor Sheila McCutcheon’s office. (Not Springdale as originally written.)
McCutcheon was re-elected last year despite a pending charge that she’d stolen public money. She was charged today in Boone Circuit Court with a felony perjury count, but the web court record doesn’t provide details. When a reporter went to the courthouse to get a comment, the welcome wasn’t friendly.
KSPR News went inside the courthouse to try to talk to Sheila McCutcheon, who the sheriff said has been arrested again — this time for perjury.
“Get the h*** out,” said McCutheon’s daughter, Amber Smith.
Smith works for her mother.
“If you’re not going to help her, she’s done nothing wrong, then get the h*** out of this office,” said Smith.
“Then why has she been arrested for perjury?” asked a reporter.
“None of your f****** business,” said Smith.
The KSPR News crews came back a second time to get video of Smith’s mother’s office and this happened:
“Out,” Smith yelled.
“This is a public place,” said the reporter.
“I don’t give a f***. I don’t want this here,” Smith said.
“This is a public courthouse,” said the reporter.
“I don’t care. They paid you off to run that b**** and I don’t give a f***,” Smith said.
“We were not paid,” the reporter replied.
“Have me arrested. Have me arrested,” Smith said.
Then Smith said this: “She’s done nothing wrong and we’re tired of all this bulls**t. Why do you think the judge wouldn’t talk to you the last time you was here? Because he’s not against her. You know what. I’m calling the sheriff. F*** this.”
McCutcheon, a Republican, is awaiting trial on a theft charge alleging that she and a daughter-in-law used a county credit card to pay for more than $11,000 in personal items.
