Demonstrators in Bentonville — a “die-in” by Ozark Indivisible — took to the square today to highlight Republican U.S. Rep. Steve Womack’s vote for health care legislation that would wreck coverage for millions of Americans. “A grave mistake,” said one protestor holding a sign resembling a tombstone.  Whatever the political realities in the 3rd District, resistance and reminders of the record are good things.

I attended the afternoon graduation of this year’s class of the Clinton School of Public Service. We’ve been watching the progress of Shem Ngwira of Malawi, who now holds a master’s degree. The future? Bright for Shem and all of them. Short run, Shem, who’d never been on a plane before setting off for Little Rock two years ago from Lilongwe, is going to join a fellow grad on a road trip to see what all visitors want to see — California.

Added bonus: Nice graduation talk by Jeff Nichols, the Little Rock native filmmaker (“Loving”). Everything you do should advance your passion, Nichols told the graduates, recounting how even when he was waiting tables in a pizza restaurant he never stopped being consumed by his dream to make movies. He’s not waiting tables now.
