The Trump administration is buffing its PR image following withdrawal from the Paris agreement. EPA administrator Scott Pruitt insists he wants a clean environment (if not rules that would help acieve that) and UN ambassador Nikki Haley declared in an interview today:
“President Trump believes the climate is changing and he believes pollutants are part of the equation,” Haley said Saturday, answering a central question in the wake of his decision to withdraw the country from the Paris climate accord.
Trump “knows that it’s changing and that the US has to be responsible for it and that’s what we’re going to do,” she continued, adding that withdrawing from the Paris agreement won’t change the country’s commitment to curbing climate change.
“Just because the US got out of a club doesn’t mean we aren’t going to care about the environment,” she said.
Meanwhile, Trump in the past has said repeatedly that he doesn’t believe in global warming.
Trump, meanwhile, had a rally at Lafayette Square Park to celebrate withdrawal from the universal Paris accord and distributed a news release citing an Alex Jones article as supporting material. Trump campaign photos don’t indicate an enormous crowd, though he’d undoubtedly disagree. FYI: The source cited by Trump here said the Sandy Hook massacre was a media hoax.
