No word again today from the U.S. Supreme Court on the petition for it to review an Arkansas Supreme Court decision denying equal treatment to same-sex couples in the issuance of birth certificates.

Heterosexual couples are presumed to be parents in birth certificate issuance. A non-biological parent in a same-sex couple must seek court approval to be listed on a birth certificate. The case has been distributed for U.S. Supreme Court conference three times, the last on June 1 including the record of the case from the Arkansas Supreme Court.

The National Center for Lesbian Rights has added its legal muscle to the Arkansas case and filed this petition for Supreme Court review.
