Marion Boyd, the interim director of the Arkansas Historic Preservation Program, has resigned. Boyd had served as interim director since long-time director Missy McSwain left the AHPP in March.
Boyd was a 25-year employee of the Department of Arkansas Heritage, which oversees the AHPP. She previously served as interim director of the Arkansas Arts Council, also a DAH division, assistant director at AHPP and director of Main Street Arkansas.

Boyd’s departure follows the resignations of a number of DAH staff, many of whom had served for many years with the agency, including Patricia Blick, formerly the AHPP deputy director; archeologist and the federal Section 106 manager Bob Scoggin; former preservation outreach coordinator Rachel Silva; Delta Cultural Museum Director Katie Harrington; Mosaic Templars Cultural Center Director Sericia Cole and former deputy DAH directors Kathy Holt and Marynell Branch.
Because the department does not discuss personnel issues, it’s unknown who beside Holt and Branch were asked to leave by Director Stacy Hurst, who like other agency heads appointed by Governor Hutchinson has worked to reduce the budget of the department. Rumors of unhappiness among employees abound.
