Most attention today in Virginia’s election will be the race for governor, but this is intriguing — the race by a transgender candidate, Danica Roem, to unseat Bob Marshall, one of the most anti-LGBT members of the Virginia House of delegates.
Marshall has refused to debate and he and the Republican Party have also refused to accept Roem’s gender identity, referring to her as “him.” And otherwise making it all about the bathrooms.
Roem has focused on local politics, particularly a traffic-snarled stretch of highway in her district.
What if she wins? Dream more. What if a transgender person were to be elected in Arkansas? And our own version of Danica Roem was to share facilities with Linda Collins-Smith?
