Now it’s Democratic Sen. Al Franken who stands accused by a woman of sexual misconduct — an unwanted kiss as part of a skit rehearsal on a USO tour and a photo in which he appears to be moving toward groping the woman while she slept. Leeann Tweeden wrote about it on KABC.
He’s issued an extended apology. Sen. Mitch McConnell has called for an investigation (and Franken has endorsed it). Others have called for his resignation. Democratic colleagues are struggling as they are asked to respond.
Said Tweeden of Franken’s apology: “He had a chance to apologize to me” when they saw each other several years ago, but he didn’t.
