The Clinton National Airport reports that brakes failed on a private aircraft landing shortly before midnight last night, but no one was hurt.

According to an airport news release, Greg Hatcher, the pilot of the Cessna Citation CJ4 reported that the brakes didn’t function properly and he turned the plane on a grassy area at the end of the runway to stop it. He had one passenger aboard, who also wasn’t hurt.

The landing was on the 18/36 general aviation runway on the west side of the airfield.

The aircraft, registered to Charter Express, was arriving from Las Vegas. The Federal Aviation Administration will be checking the plane today, the airport said.

NOTE: I failed to erase a portion of the airport news release included in the original post where a spellcheck missed a homonym. Those are the brakes.
