The State Police reports a Missouri man is in critical condition with a self-inflicted gunshot wound after a car chase from Bald Knob to Beebe last night.

A police pursuit along U.S. Highway 67 initiated by Bald Knob police last night ended in Beebe with multiple law enforcement agencies involved and the suspect driver reportedly attempting to take his own life.

Phillip Stroisch, 42, of Chesterfield, Missouri, was critically wounded when he reportedly shot himself after crashing his vehicle into local law enforcement patrol vehicles. Stroisch was wanted by Missouri authorities for felony assault.

Stroisch was transported to a Little Rock hospital after being stabilized by White County medical personnel.

The pursuit began near Bald Knob. Judsonia police officers and White County sheriff’s deputies joined in the pursuit.

Local law enforcement jurisdictions have requested special agents of the Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division to investigate the shooting incident.
