Gov. Asa Hutchinson is expected to announce soon the appointment of Emily White to fill a vacancy as district judge for Hot Springs and Grant counties to succeed Judge Sherry Burnett, who’s resigned to go into private practice.
White has been deputy director of the Arkansas Judicial Discipline and Disability Commission, which investigates ethical and other breaches by judges. She played a critical role in the uncovering of a long pattern of abuse by Joseph Boeckmann of Wynne, a district judge who traded judicial favors for sexually related acts by defendants in his court. He is off the bench and serving a five-year federal prison term.
