Richard Boosey Jr. died today on his 77th birthday.

Long-time Arkansas Blog readers knew him as Couldn’t Be Better, one of the most prolific and informed of our commenters until he was hospitalized for complications that followed heart surgery last June.

Mount Vernon was his retirement home after a career in pharmaceutical management that relied on his math, chemistry and physics training at the University of Arkansas-Little Rock. He was one of five children, a couple of whom I know well — Fred Boosey, the veteran drama teacher at Parkview Magnet High School and George Boosey, the former UPI reporter in Little Rock who went on to a career in public radio and now lives in North Carolina.

I’m so glad Mountain Girl called Richard  recently at the hospital. He appreciated the kind words. He was already missed.

George Boosey tells me a memorial service will be scheduled in a few weeks. Other survivors include his son Rick, his sister Anne Melvin and brother Harry Boosey.
