Quite a week for Arkansas political junkies. The big news, of course, was the conviction Thursday in federal court of former state Sen. Jon Woods in his public corruption trial for fraud, conspiracy to commit fraud, and money laundering.

Woods is pictured above, in happier times, with his wife Christina and the legendary actor Henry Winkler, who played the Fonz on Happy Days. Prosecutors presented evidence that lobbyist Rusty Cranford and another executive at the Medicaid-enriched nonprofit Preferred Family Health helped to grease a job for Christina Woods when she was the senator’s fiancee — after Jon Woods directed public money toward entities under the PFH umbrella.

Fonzie was in no way implicated in the scheme.

“Arrested Development” fans will note that Winkler also played Bob Loblaw, a fitting character for recent events in Arkansas politics.
