Arkansas Business has the scoop on a lawsuit against state Sen. Jeremy Hutchinson (R-Little Rock) by Centennial Bank of Conway, which says the legislator is in default on a business loan the bank originated in 2011.
Here’s the lawsuit, which was filed in Pulaski County circuit court on May 4. The complaint states Hutchinson owes a balance of about $30,000 on the loan — which was originally in the amount of $50,000 — plus interest and late fees.
Hutchinson, who is the nephew of Governor Asa Hutchinson, is not running for reelection this year. He attracted attention recently when a federal bribery plea agreement by former state Rep. Hank Wilkins (D-Pine Bluff) referenced a state senator who matches Hutchinson’s description. (The plea agreement does not state Hutchinson committed any wrongdoing, and he has not been accused of a crime.)
