City Board candidate Russ Racop has shared information he obtained from the Little Rock police department, the latest count on place of residency and race and sex of officers on the Little Rock police force. The heavy preference of white officers to live elsewhere (almost 80 percent), which we’ve reported before, continues. A majority of black officers live in the city.

In all, then, 68 percent of the police force doesn’t live in the city officers are paid to protect. I’ll spare you a repetition of past sermons on the topic, except to say non-residency has edged up a point or so since I last looked.

CORRECTION: These numbers cover ALL officers, including undercover. They may be included because the numbers don’t identify them.
