Another state prison inmate has died under suspicious circumstances that are now under State Police investigation.

Correction Department spokesman Solomon Graves said officers at the Cummins UNit found Ronnie Martin, 35, unresponsive on the floor of his cell about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. He was given emergency treatment, but pronounced dead at 6:45 p.m.

State Police are investigating and the medical examiner will seek the cause of death. The Correction Department is also conducting an internal investigation. The State Police said their initial call indicated, again, that prison officials suspected drugs were involved.

The department has had string of deaths suspected to be related to illegal drugs, particularly a synthetic drug known as K2.

Martin was serving a 20-year sentence from Cleburne County for drug possession with intent to deliver.
