40/29 reports that the state Health Department has concluded that norovirus is responsible for an outbreak of illness among people who’d recently frequented JJ’s Beer Garden and Brewery in Fayetteville. It was closed Wednesday for cleaning work.
The department has received 175 reports of illness linked to the restaurant or people who’d been there.
The Arkansas Department of Health is asking anyone who visited JJ’s Beer Garden and Brewery between September 13, 2018 and today and has experienced a fever, with diarrhea or vomiting to contact them at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 501-537-8969.
The illnesses were linked to JBGB “either through visiting there or being in close contact with someone who did,” Meg Mirivel, ADH spokesperson, told 40/29 News.
Norovirus is a contagious virus that causes diarrhea and vomiting. It is commonly spread by food or water or contaminated surfaces. It emerges from time to time as the source of illness outbreaks on cruise ships.
