The U.S. attorney’s office announced today that 20 people from White County had been charged in a scheme to unlawfully collect unemployment benefits.

The scheme operated in 17 states. The alleged ringleader was Mark “Big Head” King, 53, orf Judsonia. King and defendants Alan Genery and Benjamin Bradly were arrested Wednesday. Natalie Floyd was already in federal prison and Mark Scheffler was in state prison, both on unrelated charges.

Other defendants will be served summonses later.

The release said the scheme operated from June 2012 until August 2017. King is accused of setting up businesses in 16 states that falsely reported wages. Then, co-conspirators made unemployment claims that King did not contest.
