KARK has new details on a shooting that erupted Saturday night in downtown Little Rock at Sixth and Main outside a party for teens in a building nearby. A teen was wounded and nine cars were struck by gunfire in a fusillade of some 30 gunshots, police told KARK.
When police were arriving they reported seeing a group of juveniles running north on Main Street, including the victim. As police began their investigation they reported having to disperse a large crowd of juveniles.
Police say the wounded 16-year-old boy was taken to Arkansas Children’s Hospital for treatment and was later released. He told police he had left the building and walked into the parking lot when the gunfire broke out and ran towards Main Street. The LRPD says he told officers he saw a friend with a handgun, took it from him, and began firing at the suspect.
Crime scene technicians reported finding more than 30 shell casings throughout the parking lot and noted nine vehicles were damaged by the gunfire.
The LRPD says that while the victim was being treated, it was discovered there was a warrant for his arrest in a residential burglary case.
