Bold Team LLC, which reported to the Medical Marijuana Commission in November that it was on track to finish construction and get its final ABC inspection by the end of December, was as good as its word. The Cotton Plant medical marijuana cultivator announced today that it’s been approved by the state to begin cultivation, making it the first company in Arkansas with that capability.

“Cultivation is now underway and we are very excited to begin meeting the medical needs of Arkansas patients. We expect to have medical marijuana available to dispensaries in April,” the company said in a news release.

Bold Team’s CEO is Danny Brown, who also owns Willy D’s Piano Bar in the River Market district. The company’s initial plan is to grow 13 strains. “We’re going to make sure we have strains for every ailment,” Brown told the MMC in November, and that among them would be cannabidiol strains appropriate for treatment of seizure disorders. He also said he’d talked to several dispensary applicants and believes those who win licenses can be open in 60 days.
