House Speaker Matthew Shepherd of El Dorado has appointed Nathan Evers, an El Dorado CPA, to the independent citizens commission that meets annually to decide on pay raises for state elected officials.

Evers replaces Mitch Berry, whose term expired. The House speaker gets two seats on the commission, as does the Senate president pro tempore and governor. The chief justice gets one appointee. The commission was created by a 2014 constitutional amendment and the terms of all original members expired at the end of 2018. The governor and chief justice have already made new appointments.
