I noted on the House agenda today an item that says Rep. Andy Davis (R-Little Rock) plans to withdraw his bill that purported to provide funding for a cancer research institute at UAMS.

I’ve written several times, including here, about the favors in this bill for Big Tobacco in the name of cancer research. Apparently sponsors are going back to the drawing board.
A meaningful tax increase on cigarettes and a new tax on vaping are both rational and productive ways to raise money for cancer research. Not looking for Philip Morris or RJ Reynolds to get on my bandwagon, however.
