It’s already less than a year away from nonpartisan judicial elections, so candidates have begun to emerge and more will be coming, with a number of judgeships to be vacated by retirement. This week:

* Perry County District Judge Andy Gill announced that he’ll seek the seat currently held by Sixth District Circuit Judge Mary McGowan, who’s expected to retire. The circuit covers Pulaski and Perry counties.

* Amy Dunn Johnson, executive director for the Arkansas Access to Justice Commission and Arkansas Access to Justice Foundation, has announced for the seat held by Sixth District Circuit Judge Richard Moore, who’s also expected to retire.
