EMILY WHITE: Will appear on the ballot, without "Judge" title.

Gov. Asa Hutchinson has appointed Meredith Switzer of Hot Springs to replace the late Judge David M. “Mac” Glover on the Arkansas Court of Appeals. Today, a candidate announced for the seat in the 2020 election

Switzer, who previously was appointed by Hutchinson to serve out a vacancy in a district court judgeship in Hot Springs, will serve through Dec. 31, 2020. She can’t run to succeed herself.


Today, District Judge Emily White, who presides over the Malvern district court covering  Hot Spring and Grant County, announced that she’d be a candidate for the court seat in 2020. the seat represents a district covering 15 counties. She’s a former deputy director of the Arkansas Judicial Discipline and Disability Commission and was appointed to her current position by the governor to finish an unexpired term.
