KATV, quoting an aide to Mayor Frank Scott Jr., says the Lime scooter rental business has been given a four-month extension to operate in Little Rock.
Stephanie Jackson told KATV that the plan to end the current agreement May 15 had been extended 120 days. After early complaints about the electric scooters on safety issues, Scott in his early days as mayor called for an end to the trial begun by former Mayor Mark Stodola.
Lime has taken steps to ensure riders are older, is providing helmets and has reduced the scooters’ top speed to address safety issues.
KARK says the city is working on a continuing agreement with Lime. At one point, Scott talked about opening up the scooter franchise to other companies.
