Doctors Orders RX in Hot Springs has received final approval from the state to begin selling medical marijuana. It apparently will be the first outlet in Arkansas.
The owners will decide when to begin sales. I just tried their number and couldn’t reach anyone for a time. The business is at 4893 Malvern Avenue.
The Department of Finance and Administration said Green Springs Medical at 309 Seneca, Hot Springs, will be inspected Thursday. If approved, it also could open for business.
The state has approved five growers, in various stages of cultivation, and 32 dispensary licenses. The system was set up following voter approval of a ballot initiative in 2016.
UPDATE: The company issued a statement:
Statement from Don Sears, owner of Doctor’s Order RX:
“I am pleased that Doctors Orders RX received official approval to open Arkansas’s first licensed medical cannabis dispensary. We will announce our opening date in the coming days, and we fully expect the initial demand for our products to exceed availability. Until cultivation capacity can keep up with demand, we will operate on a first-come, first-serve basis with the limited products currently available. We look forward to finally being able to provide relief to ailing Arkansans across our state.”
A spokesman said he expected a firm date on opening by Monday.
