On May 17, 2019, at approximately 12:15 PM, Little Rock Police Department received a 911 call to 2123 Labette Manor, Apartment G12, regarding a child that had been shot. When officers arrived they located Tyler Burnett (B/M 4 year old) inside the residence suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. An officer removed Tyler from the apartment to meet medical staff who were arriving on scene. Tyler was transported to Arkansas Children’s Hospital by MEMS where he was pronounced deceased shortly after arrival. Initial statements to officers and detectives of how the accidental shooting occurred were inconsistent and it appeared evidence from the scene had been removed.

Homicide and Violent Crimes Detectives responded to the scene to interview possible witnesses and begin a neighborhood canvas. A search warrant was obtained by detectives to retrieve evidence related to the shooting inside the apartment complex. CSSU responded to process the scene once the search warrant was served. Upon examining the scene and Tyler’s body, it was determined Tyler suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound. At the time of the shooting two other children, the children’s mother and the mother’s friend, Reco Reed, were inside the apartment. As a result of the investigation, Reco Reed (B/M DOB 09/02/1991) was charged with Manslaughter, Endangering the Welfare of a Minor 2nd, and Tampering with Physical Evidence and transported to the Pulaski County Jail.

No more details were provided on how the shooting occurred. It was described Friday as accidental.

Also, the Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette has reported Rogers police have arrested Asa Hutchinson III for DWI and refusal to take an intoxication test. He’s had other DWI arrests and is awaiting trial on a charge filed in West Fork.
