Gov. Asa Hutchinson hasn’t yet set an election date for the special election to fill the House District 36 seat vacated by Democrat Charles Blake, but a line is forming for Democratic candidates to succeed him.

The secretary of state’s office says, unofficially, that it is preparing for a June 3-7 filing period, if the election is set soon.

So far, Roderick Talley, Phillip Hood and Darrell Stephens (who opposed Blake in 2018) have indicated plans to run. No word yet on a Republican challenger.

Blake resigned to become Little Rock Mayor Frank Scott Jr.’s chief of staff.  Blake got almost 62 percent of the vote against Stephens in 2018.
