Governor Hutchinson signs HB1552 AND HB1684 to protect Arkansas’s DACA nurses and college students with AU staff and legislators watching.

The Arkansas Times’ third annual Pig & Swig event Friday, June 14, at the River Market benefits Arkansas United, the statewide advocacy and resource group for our Latinx population. By enjoying whiskey from Jim Beam Distilleries and pork tapas from fine restaurants, you’ll be supporting a non-profit that works statewide to train immigrants in civic engagement. In the last General Assembly, UA successfully won the state’s approval of bills to protect DACA nurses and provide in-state tuition to Dreamers. Mireya Reith is founding executive director.

The Knob-Creek sponsored event features pours of Basil Hayden Bourbon, Bail Hayden Dark Rye Bourbon, Knob Creek Double Barreled Rye, Knob Creek Bourbon and Jim Beam Peach, and pork-based tapas from the chefs at The Root Cafe, Taco Mama, @The Corner, Old Chicago, Ginger’s Handlebar Grill, Cantina Laredo, Whole Hog, Old Chicago and, yes, faux pig from the vegan chefs of In the Raw. The event runs 6-9 p.m. in the pavilions; tickets are $25. (They go up to $35 on Wednesday, so buy now at Central Arkansas Tickets!
