Orchestrating Change, a website published by Elizabeth Lyon-Ballay, reports that a misdemeanor assault charge has been filed against Rhonda Hall, suspended as principal of Mabelvale Middle School after Lyon-Ballay reported on video indicating Hall had struck a student in the face after breaking up a student fight.
The charge was filed Thursday in Little Rock District Court and set for trial Oct. 31.
Lyon-Ballay’s article notes investigations of whether others failed to report the striking of a child and about handling of records at the school. Lyon-Balley observes that the girl who was hit by Hall had initially been charged with a more serious battery charge for reportedly striking Hall.
Hall has been recommended for termination. She remains on suspension pending a hearing on that recommendation, Superintendent Mike Poore said.
