North Little Rock police say an officer shot an armed man about 3 p.m. today at the Broadway Motel at 2800 East Broadway.

KARK/Fox 16 reports:

Police say that the officer was approached by a black male with a handgun. The officer then engaged with the male and fired at the suspect.

 

The suspect was struck, but is currently at the hospital receiving medical treatment.

 

The suspects condition is non-life threatening.

NLRPD issued this release:

On October 21st at 2:54pm an undercover investigator with the North Little Rock Police Department was area of 2800 E. Broadway conducting an investigation. The officer was approached by a black male subject who produced a handgun and was subsequently shot by the officer.
The subject was injured as a result of the shooting and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The injury sustained by the subject was not life threatening.

Detectives with the North Little Rock Police Department responded to the scene and are conducting an investigation into the incident.

The officer involved in the shooting is on Administrative leave as per Departmental Policy. The involved officer did not sustain any injuries during the incident.
