Attorneys for Hunter Biden, son of the former vice president, said in a court filing in Batesville Monday that he agrees a DNA test is warranted in a paternity suit filed against him by an Independence County resident, Lunden Alexis Roberts.
Roberts contends her 14-month-old child was fathered by Biden when she was living in Washington, D.C. and is seeking child support. It’s a garden variety domestic relations case, but has commanded national attention because of Hunter Biden’s father and his past role as a political consultant in Ukraine. The case has been delayed by difficulties in serving Biden with legal papers.
Dustin McDaniel and Bart Calhoun, attorneys for Biden, said in a filing in Independence circuit court Monday that lawyers were discussing “protocol and procedure” for administering the test for Biden, who lives in California. They said they anticipated an agreement could be reached on or before Nov. 1 in time for paternity to be resolved in advance of a scheduled Dec. 2 hearing.
