Brian Chilson dropped by the Trader Joe’s opening this morning and the eager line of customers stretched from the front door west past other storefronts, including Barnes and Noble, to the street many yards away.

I’ve said before Trader Joe’s is a good grocery store but perhaps not deserving of the hype it’s received here. When I commented to that effect on Twitter last night, one response said:

Oh, no. I agree with 100% of the hype. This increases the quality of life index in #LittleRock by about 50%

That’s a double-edged sword, seems to me. Is Trader Joe’s that good? Or the life index in Little Rock that bad?

Anyway, the store-brand chips, cookies, nuts and stuff are flying off the shelves.
