October state tax collections were healthy, 8.7 percent more than last year and 7.1 percent above forecast, with healthy gains in all sectors including the sales tax.

After four months of the fiscal year, net revenue after mandatory off-the-top deductions are running about 4 percent ahead of last year and the forecast on which the state budget is set. That puts the surplus to date at $72.2 million.
