The Trump campaign says he’ll file for the Arkansas primary election ballot at 11 a.m. Friday in the persons of his former press aide, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, now a Pleasant Valley resident, and Attorney General Leslie Rutledge.
Only one of the two women is likely to run for governor in 2022.
I wonder if Lt. Gov. Tim Griffin can figure out a way to worm himself into this happy tableau?
They’ll present papers to Republican Party Chair Doyle Webb at GOP headquarters. Said a release from the campaign:
“Arkansas was very important to President Trump’s victory in 2016 and will be part of his winning strategy again in 2020,” said Tim Murtaugh, Trump campaign communications director. “Attorney General Rutledge has been a great Team Trump member and is a vital part of our leadership in the state. Sarah Huckabee Sanders needs no introduction in Arkansas or anywhere else in America because of all of her hard work for the President and all of the people of this nation.”
I wonder too if Doyle Webb will find a way to shoehorn his wife, Barbara, into the photo since she’s planning to run for a nominally non-partisan seat on the Arkansas Supreme Court in a campaign likely to be built on Republican dark money.
