David Bazzel, co-host of “The Show With No Name,” asked Nutt whether the university had been in touch about the search for a new football coach, and how Nutt felt about some fans rooting for him to return.

John Fagg, assistant AD, has called me just to lay out, just to kind of touch base deal. Nothing big. But I don’t know. I think they’re down the road a little bit. I think they’ve zeroed in on a few guys, and again it’s probably still early. By you don’t know, this is a very important hire. We all, of course, love Arkansas, and right now boy this is a turning point. This is going to be very, very important.

Nutt said that former players had reached out to him to say they would like to see him back at UA:

“When they say, ‘Hey coach, boy I want you back at our school,’ that makes you feel good because they know. They’ve been in the locker room, they know how we treated them out of the locker room, outside the locker room. It’s been good.

Nutt said that he could also be interested in returning to the athletic department in an advisory role.
