UPDATE: Judge David Goodson set the next pre-trial date for February 28. The trial is set to begin October 19, 2020.
The Pocahontas Star Herald reports on the latest in the court proceedings of Rebecca O’Donnell, charged with murdering Linda Collins, a former state representative and senator.
O’Donnell will appear in Randolph County Circuit Court this morning at 10:30 a.m at a pre-trial hearing. O’Donnell pleaded not guilty at her arraignment on July 30. She was granted a continuance at her last appearance, at a pre-trial hearing in September.
O’Donnell was a long-time friend and campaigner for Collins. She faces charges of capital murder, abuse of a corpse and tampering with physical evidence. Prosecutors plan to seek the death penalty.
Earlier this month, Judge David Goodson denied a motion by news outlets for access to sealed court filings and the lifting of gag orders.
