KARK reports that the Bryant Police Department has announced that Officer Samantha Hodgson, wounded Dec. 23 by a man later killed by police, has been released from the hospital.
According to a gofundme page set up to help with her expenses (it has raised more than $10,000), Hodgson was hit in the face, shoulder and neck when a suicidal suspect fired a shotgun loaded with birdshot through his door. She was airlifted to UAMS where she had surgery on a detached retina Christmas Eve. She reportedly had a fractured skull along with other injuries.
The fund-raising page says Hodgson is an Air Force veteran and single mother who works off-duty as church security to supplement her income
