Little Rock Mayor Frank Scott Jr. confirms that city leadership will retreat to Memphis Thursday and Friday for a 2020 “strategy session.”

He said about 10 members of the city executive administration will make the trip and stay one night at the Peabody Hotel. He didn’t have an estimate on cost. They’ll meet Thursday and again Friday, but return in time for Scott to make another meeting in Little Rock Friday afternoon.

Why Memphis? Scott said part of the meeting would include information gathering about economic development and “quality of life” improvements underway in Memphis, including work to develop the Crosstown area. It entails, among others, the revitalization of a  derelict Sears distribution center. Scott said it could offer ideas for redevelopment of Little Rock’s east side.
