THV11 reports that human remains found last weekend have been positively identified as Christy Rooks, 42, according to the Praire County Sheriff. Rooks, of Wynne, had been missing for several weeks
Rooks’ boyfriend, Earl Parks, 47, has now been charged with capital murder, abuse of a corpse and tampering with evidence, THV11 reports. He was previously taken into custody and charged with possession of a firearm by a felon after the remains were discovered. Rooks was last seen leaving his house in Hazen.
The remains were found at what police described as a “crude grave sight” at a farm property nine miles north of Hazen, police said. Information related to Rooks’ disappearance led them to the site, where police have been recovering evidence. Authorities have not released any information about where she was killed.
“I just stumbled upon what looked like a grave and I told the guys ‘I think this is it’ and that’s where we found her,” Prairie County Sheriff Rick Hickman told THV11.
More from WREG in Memphis:
WREG spoke with Parks’ neighbors who say they did not think the two had any issues.
“The girl would come down and see him once in a while and he would go see her,” one neighbor said. “I didn’t know that they had any problems at all but evidently they did.”
