Interesting blog post by Elizabeth Lyon-Ballay, who writes on education topics on her blog Orchestrating Change. In plowing through legal bills for the Little Rock School District, she discovered that the district had spent $7,894 with the Friday Law Firm last year attempting to do something about her criticism,
Lyon-Ballay writes that Community Advisory Board member Melanie Fox was an instigator of the firm’s legal work to review whether a lawsuit was possible over her writing. None was filed. They were temporarily successful, however, in getting blog posts removed from two hosting services, one of them part of a communications company led by Fox’s husband. Her work has included criticism of individual Little Rock district employees and Walton school influence.
Information, like water, will find an outlet. Lyon-Ballay created a new platform for her blog, found another hosting service and restored the deleted posts.
