A friend sent yearbook photos that inspired this article yesterday and I was remiss in not following up. But 40/29 did.
The principal of Lincoln Junior High in Bentonville has apologized for “biased” and “inaccurate” captions in a two-page spread of news event photos in the yearbook after complaints and has offered a refund. From the photos, students were informed Donald Trump was “NOT” impeached (despite two impeachments). That Black Lives Matter demonstrations were riots. That Trump supporters “protested” at the U.S. Capitol Jan. 6.
The Republicans in the legislature worry about non-existent teaching of whatever critical race theory might be or discussions about 400 years of slavery and persistent systemic racism in this country? They perhaps have bigger worries. Systemic ignorance, maybe?
Here’s another piece of fractured history from Lincoln. You can’t blame the students alone. Adult Republicans like Terrible Tom Cotton and Tripped-out Trent Garner and other propagandists steadily characterize BLM as a violent movement, when 93 percent of the demonstrations were peaceful.
Principal Josh Thompson said:
This yearbook does not represent our values nor meet LJHS and Bentonville Schools’ standards for quality and excellence.
The Bentonville legislative delegation will be all over this with corrective legislation, right? Or perhaps not. Benton County went 61.8 percent for the sociopath.
