The Arkansas Department of Health reported a drop of 23 hospitalizations on Sept. 1, which left a total of 295 statewide COVID-19 admissions. Patients in the ICU also fell, down four to 47. Those on ventilators increased two for a total of 14. 

New positive cases increased by 1,323 and five deaths were added.

Pediatric active cases continued its increase to 3,800 cases — 32% of all active cases reported. 

Overall, case numbers in Arkansas increased to 933,962 and deaths totaled 11,873.

Friday, Sept. 2 is the last day to order free at-home COVID-19 testing kits before the federal government halts the program. Up to eight tests can be ordered per household at covidtests.gov.

A new vaccine booster may be available after the long weekend.
