LITTLE ROCK— Tuesday night, Mayor Frank Scott, Jr. denounced the nearly $40,000 in dark money attack ads that have entered the campaign and its main funding source, former republican Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Arkansas Times Blog reported that Mike Huckabee’s political action committee, HuckPAC Inc., has contributed the majority of funds to a committee for negative attack ads in support of Steve Landers, a former donor to Huckabee.

On his social media platforms here and here, Mayor Scott responded to the report saying “it’s clear right-wing special interests are taking notice of the good, strong, progressive work we’ve accomplished in Little Rock. Not only do they want to turn back the clock on the work we’ve done, but to take over our city and our state.

“I want to be very clear, in these final few weeks of the campaign, we are going to see dark money – from Mike Huckabee and extreme right-wing special interests alike – taking aim at our city, and our work.

“We can’t let Mike Huckabee or these special interests take over our city, especially through dark money and attacks. I won’t stand for it, and I know our city won’t either.”

Residents who are fed up with negative ads are encouraged to visit frankscottjr.com to join Mayor Scott’s campaign and go to frankscottjr.com/donate to fund the fight against the dark money attacks.

The Arkansas Advocate got a canned quote from the Huckster, who is not a resident of Little Rock but lives nearby.

“We were very glad to help the Citizens For A Better Little Rock since we live in the area and the high crime rates have a direct impact on the quality of life for our families, friends, and the future of Central Arkansas where I’ve continuously owned or occupied a home since 1993.”
