SETH MAYS
Seth Mays has been tapped as executive director of the Republican Party of Arkansas.
He was nominated by Party Chair Cody Hiland and elected by the party executive committee.
He’s been a staffer at both the state party and the Republican National Committee. A Mansfield native and Arkansas Tech graduate, he was the political director of Governor Hutchinson’s 2018 campaign, then worked for the RNC and returned to Arkansas as state party political director in 2020.
His prepared statement echoed the themes of incoming Governor Sarah Sanders — parental choice in education (lots more school vouchers), truth-in-sentencing legislation (longer prison sentences for lots more prisoners) and phasing out the state income tax (a windfall for the wealthy and a potential blow to state services, including education, supported by the tax.)
Mays succeeds Sarah Reynolds, who’d been executive director since 2016. Her departure was announced at a recent state Republican meeting.
